artisanship and task are combined in this simple serving tray, a strong statement piece that displays true workmanship. designed by futagami, a renown japanese maker of brass artifacts used in the buddhist tradition, this piece will become richer and subtler with use. made of solid brass with a crude casing surface.  

the traditional coloring method of TAKAOKA casting, KURO-MURA, makes the product something like an ancient excavated item. this is a traditional method used for buddhist altar articles, which mixes pigments with Japanese lacquer, URUSHI. The product gradually changes its color over the course of years due to oxidization. The longer it is used, the richer and subtler it becomes.
